Community events
Wikimedia South Africa hosts numerous events every year. Join one of our face-to-face Wikipedia community meetups in Cape Town or Johannesburg, or alternatively you can join one of our national events digitally on our Discord server. We try to host an event on the last Saturday of every month between 10:00 and 12:00 SAST. Even if you are not in South Africa the Wiki community hosts meet-up events all the time all over the world.

Mailing List: the chapter mailing is the the most reliable way to keep informed of chapter activities and has been in use since our founding in 2012.
Chapter records: all chapter minutes and reports are kept on MetaWiki. MetaWiki is the community Wiki for the global Wiki movement and hosts a wide variety of resources.
Chapter rules: learn more about the rules and norms that govern the Wikimedia South Africa community.

The global Wiki community
The Signpost is the Wikimedia movement's online newspaper. Managed by the volunteer community, it is published online with contributions from Wikimedia editors.

Wikimania is the annual global conference for the Wiki community. The chapter works hard to encourage and enable Wiki community members from southern Africa to attend the event and so give our region a stronger voice within our global community. Wikimedia South Africa is proud to have hosted the 2018 conference in Cape Town.
Wiki Indaba is the annual regional Wiki community conference in Africa. Wikimedia South Africa is one of the organising partners for the event. We are proud to have hosted the first Wiki Indaba in 2015 in Johannesburg. Anyone with an interest in Wikipedia or any open knowledge project is encouraged to attend.
